Summary:
The Division of Radiation and Organisms located in the basement of the Smithsonian Institution Building. Shown here is an experimental chamber in which small living plants or animals may be placed to determine their carbon dioxide exchange rates.
Notes:
The old negative number is 34425-C, but that negative could not be found. The original negative number was labeled.
Secretary Charles Greeley Abbot established the Division of Radiation and Organisms. Its function was to investigate the effects of radiation upon living organisms, mainly plants, and the division worked with the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory.
