Summary:
As the first Smithsonian secretary to visit Antarctica, Secretary G. Wayne Clough, along with a group of leaders of other scientific organizations dressed in “big reds” (expedition parkas), wait to board a C-17 plane for a three-hour flight from McMurdo Research Station to the South Pole. The plane can be seen in the background.
