Summary:
Article from Smithsonian staff newsletter, the "Torch," written by Smithsonian Secretary S. Dillon Ripley reflecting on the appointment of a new director, Daniel Boorstin, for the National Museum of History and Technology, now the National Museum of American History. Ripley believes the Museum of History and Technology has a "moral responsibility to consider its exhibits for the effect that they might have" on people. He does not want the museum to become fossilized, nor does he want money to be a reason the museum becomes stagnant. He thinks the museum needs to focus more on ethnic minorities and correct oversights in history.
