    Summary: 
    Engraving of the United States National Museum (now called the Arts and Industries Building) by Cluss & Schulze, Architects, depicting the interior of the building decorated for President James A. Garfield's and Chester A. Arthur's Inaugural Ball, March 4, 1881. Building was lavishly decorated for the event with the "Statue of America" in the rotunda holding an electric light. Garlands of electric lights have been strung from the ceiling. In the engraving people are shown attending the ball. This was the first event held in the building.
