Summary:
Formal portrait of Charles Greeley Abbot, as a young man. He later served as the fifth Secretary (1928-1944) of the Smithsonian Institution. Abbot is seen here standing, facing the camera with his hand in his left front pants pocket.
Notes:
Negative # 18523 is another formal portrait of Abbot in the exact same pose, but this one is of a slightly older Abbot.
